Wesner-Schwede was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  She attended school in Las Vegas and graduated from Las Vegas (Robertson) High School.

Wesner-Schwede went to Mac Murray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.
