A Texas native, Ruffner graduated from Wofford College in South Carolina and pursued a career in accounting before her growing family prompted a career change.  An opportunity to live overseas took her family to Scotland where her words were inspired by the sheep in the fields and the rich tapestry of Scottish life.

Currently, Ruffner lives in The Woodlands, Texas with her husband Chris and their four children.  While most of her time is spent with her children, she also teaches at Oak Ridge Christian Academy and works on capturing more of her Scottish memories for readers to enjoy.
